The Story of the Brand
Prestige Retrievers Portugal began with a simple conviction: that the Golden Retriever deserves to be bred the way it was created — with patience, space, and a family around it.
Founder Kevin grew up with the breed at his side and returned to the Lousã with a plan: build a kennel that feels like a home, health-test every line, and never let a litter be born in a hurry. Every pairing is chosen for temperament and health first, beauty second — and every puppy leaves with a written genetic record, a dietary plan, and a hand-finished collar.
The crest you see on every page stands for that promise: forest green for the Serra, gold for the breed, and a standard we hold ourselves to before we ask it of the dogs.
Lousã — the Land That Raised Us
Lousã rests on the western slopes of the Serra da Lousã, the mountain range that gives Central Portugal its quiet drama — terraced valleys, chestnut and pine forest, and morning mist that rolls in from the Atlantic.
The town grew wealthy in the 18th and 19th centuries on paper and wool mills powered by mountain streams; its 19th-century mansions and the ruins of the medieval castle on the hill still tell that story. Around it hang the aldeias de xisto — the schist villages of Gondramaz, Talasnal and Casal de São Simão — built of dark stone and now among Portugal's most loved walking destinations.
It is here, between river beaches, waterfalls and centuries-old footpaths, that our dogs grow up: climbing the serra, swimming in the streams, and learning the calm confidence of the Portuguese countryside.

Our first dam and sire are growing up on the quinta — chosen for health, temperament and the true golden type. Their full story will be published here as they mature.

Our future mother — calm, affectionate and athletic, with the soft expression of the classic golden. Health testing is completed before her first litter.
